Sea Buckthorn Hippophae rhamnoides
This vibrant amber hued oil is extracted from the fleshy pulp of the sea buckthorn berry and takes its name from traditional knowledge of wild horses having lustrous coats after eating the fruit - Hippo meaning horse. Sea buckthorn can be found in ravaged coastal and mountainous areas replenishing the soil, growing where other plants can't survive. This indicates the therapeutic activity of the oil on your skin. Naturally high in Vitamin A, C and E with essential fatty acids to nourish and revitalise dull skin tones and promote deep restoration for weather damaged skin.
Kawakawa Piper excelsum
One of the most important medicinal plants native to New Zealand and is recognisable by its holey, heart shaped leaves. Preparations made from the mature leaves are used in traditional rongoā in cases of eczema, dermatitis and minor wounds to reduce inflammation. The inflammatory activity is attributed to myristicin & elemicin found in its volatile oils. Kawakawa is known to prevent infection, soothe pain, increase circulation and aid healing.
Aloe Vera Aloe barbadensis
Aloe gel is traditionally used for its soothing and emollient properties. Known to calm irritated and inflamed skin, the cooling effect of aloe also has an invigorating and refreshing effect. Gels are quickly absorbed and support the absorption of other ingredients deeper into the skin. As a cleanser, Aloe gently cleanses and nourishes the skin without drying, as foaming cleansers can.
